デトロイトの領事館よりレターが届きましたので掲載いたします。

今回のチェック送付をもって皆様から寄せられた善意の寄付金を

すべて日本に送付することができました。

皆様のご協力、本当にありがとうございました。

We finally received the donation check in mail Joseph-Beth Booksellers.

Here is the letter of proof for the second part of the donation mailed to the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit with the amount of $1,138.76.

We are able to wrap up our project by posting the letter.

Again, thank you for everyone's support. Greatly appreciated.

Especially, the project would have not been successful without our volunteers' support.

So many people in Japan are still suffering from the influence and damage from the earthquake.

We hope continuous support will be provided to the victims and the affected areas will be able to take a step toward recovery soon.

Cranes donation to Shiriners Hospital

As we have wrapped up our fundraising event few months ago, we have recently donated the portion of the leftover origami cranes to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati. They currently have about 30 children residence in the hospital for care. They will be putting our cranes on each of their food trays during meal delivery. Hope these colorful cranes will add a smile to those children. Thank you for all of you who have helped making the cranes for the fundraising project.

当プロジェクトが終了し数か月が経ちましたが、

先日Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnatiで治療入院中の

約30人の子供たちにプロジェクトで使用した折り紙を

寄付させていただきました。

折鶴はフードトレイに載せられ、食事の際に配られるとのことです。

色とりどりの折り鶴が子供たちに笑顔を運んでくれることを願います。

折り紙ボランティアの皆さまのご協力にあらためて感謝いたします。

Letter of proof from Consulate General of Japan

プロジェクトで集められた寄付金のうち＄4,318.50の受け取り証明として

デトロイトの領事館よりレターが届きましたので掲載いたします。

６月のブックストアイベントで集まった寄付金に関しては今月中に

書店よりチェックが送付される予定です。

チェックを受け取り次第領事館に送付し

レターも別途アップいたします。

Here is the letter of proof for the first part of the donation mailed to the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit with the amount of $4318.50. It's been 2 months since the final bookfair event at Joseph-Beth Booksellers. We are finally expecting to receive the donation check in mail this coming week. We will soon be forwarding those to the Consulate General of Japan again. Proof of letter will be posted on this blog when available. Thank you for your patience.

Final result from our projects

As you have already known, we had finished our last fundraising event three weeks ago at the Joseph-Beth Booksellers. It was a great event, the staff and community were very supportive. The bookstore had just contacted us with the following result:

From the total of 3 days event, the combination of 20% bookstore sales and 10% restaurant sales with using the bookfair coupons, we have raised a total of $1393.42. This is a great success with everyone's support.
So with the combination of all our previous events (Kite Fest, Mason Community Center & other donations), our final total amount raised for Japanese Red Cross Society = $5370.26

Once we receive the check from Joseph-Beth Booksellers, then we will submit donations to the Consulate General of Japan at Detroit, depositing money directly for the special account set up for Japanese Red Cross Society for Tohoku relief effort. We would post a letter of proof on our blog once it's available. 

We have also decided to donate portion of the left over origami cranes to the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital for Children, a pediatric burn hospital (for children who suffereed from burn illness). We truely appreciate everyone's support throughout this project. Despite all of the sadness from the disaster, this has been a very meaningful journey. Not only were we able to do this together, reaching out to the community for support, and raised money for Japan, but we have also gained lots of new friendship. Greatly appreciated.

報告させていただきます。

 

イベント3日間で$1393.42の寄付を集めることができました。

予想以上の結果となり、これも皆さまのサポートのおかげと感謝しています。

残っている約150羽の折り紙鶴について

子供の火傷を専門に治療するCincinnati Shriners Hospital に寄付します。

子供たちの食事トレーに折鶴をのせて渡し、少しでも喜んでもらえたらと考えています。

被災地への寄付を募ることができただけではなく

たくさんの方たちと思いを分かち合うことができました。

Just a brief update about this past weekend event at Joseph-Beth Booksellers.
書店イベントについて簡単に結果報告させていただきます。
Thank you so much for all of you who came out to support us, and for those customers who made a purchase using the bookfair coupons, we had a great event. We were able to meet a lot of new friends and reach out to the community. The bookstore was wonderful, we truely appreciate this opportunity. It will take about 1-2 weeks before we find out the total fundraising amount. We will be posting that on this blog as soon as it becomes available. Thank you everyone. We will have few more follow up posting very soon.

Our last event- Bookfair & Origami event at Joseph-Beth Booksellers

Our third fundraising event has been confirmed, it will be a "bookfair" event.
Date: June 3rd (Fri) - 5th (Sun)

How it works:

1) Click HERE to download the coupon for printing.
　　
2) Bring it to the store between June 3-5th at ANYTIME. Make a purchase or dine in at Bronte Bistro restaurant (inside bookstore). At check out, present this coupon. Then 20% of your bookstore purchase and 10% in Bronte Bistro, will be donated back to Japanese Red Cross Society. (coupons will also be available at the checkout counters during the events)

This will be our last event of the fundraising project. We are so blessed to have so much support from the previous events. We hope to raise additional fund for the Japan relief effort. Let's do this together one more time. There is a long road for recovery in Japan, but with efforts, it will help so many people, give them hope for a better future.

Flying Pig Marathon Expo

Last weekend was the annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. A group of ladies who organized the upcoming Zumbathon Charity Event had set up a booth at the P&G Expo on Friday & Saturday. They were there promoting the Zumbathon event and raised money for the Japan relief effort. We had donated a bag of origami cranes for their event, and helped raise a total of $903.27. They wanted to thank everyone who helped preparing those origami cranes. 

年に一度開催されるシンシナティフライングピッグマラソン。

今月21日に行われるZumbathonイベントのプロモーションを兼ねて、

イベント主催グループの皆さんがマラソンExpo会場にて

日本に向けてのチャリティーイベントを開催しました。

当プロジェクトからも折り紙鶴を寄付させていただきました。

2日間での寄付金総額は$903.27という報告と、

折り紙ボランティアの皆さんにもご協力いただき感謝します、

というメッセージをいただきました。

Easter Blessing

Happy Easter everyone......

For this holiday, just want to share with everyone a little thought-
As we are all enjoying the holiday with families & colorful easter eggs, my family had spent an hour watching the National Geographic Channel progam this morning. To some people, it's very difficult to watch those horrific footage again and again. My 3 year old son wasn't quite understood the incident, but he was watching quietly. At one point, he said "I don't like (watching) that", perhaps the enormous tsunami and the fire scenes made him uncomfortable. He choosed to watch the entire show with us, so as I let him.

復活祭の休日です。
人々が家族と過ごす時間やエッグハントを楽しむ中、
私達家族は今朝National Geographic Channelの一時間番組を観ました。
一部の方にはこの悲惨な震災の爪痕を何度も繰り返し見ることは
とても辛いものでしょう。
私の3歳の息子は今回の震災について完全に理解していたとは言えませんが
静かに一緒にテレビを見ていました。
一度、「これは好きじゃない」と言いましたが恐らく巨大な津波と火事の場面が
彼を嫌な気持ちにさせたのでしょう。
彼は私達と一緒に観ることを選びましたので、その気持ちを尊重しました。

It's been more than a month since the incident. As the people in disaster area slowly getting pieces of their lives back, as the tsunami and earthquake wreckage began to clear away, as our media coverage starting to fade.....these TV programs serves as a reminder of how blessed we are able to celebrate this holiday with our love ones at home.

大震災から1か月以上が経過しました。
被災地の人たちは少しずつですが日常を取り戻しつつあり
津波と地震により残されたがれきの山の片づけが進み
メディアの関心は日々薄れています。
このような番組は愛する家族たちと一緒に祝日を過ごせることが
どんなに幸せかを思い出させてくれます。

Yet, we should realize there are still so many people in Japan, trying to rebuild their home, searching & mourning for their love ones, struggling with their fears..... Only if we can continue our effort to help, perhaps we can provide them a little bit of hope & strength to move on.

まだ日本にはたくさんの人々が家を建て直そうとし、愛する家族を探し続け、
続く余震との恐怖と闘っていることを忘れてはいけません。
私たちが支援の努力を続ければ、少しでも被災地の方たちに希望と勇気を
与えられるはずです。

Working in progress

Just wanted to give everyone a brief update- We are currently working on finding our 3rd fundraising event, which could be our last event of this whole project. We are still very passionate about this project, hope we can find the right venue to do this. As soon as we have more information, we will post here and let everyone know. More donation

As we are still trying to find the 3rd location/ venue for our next fundraising event, we have received another generous donation today. So our new total as of today is $3976.84. Thank you so much for all your support. We are working very hard trying to raise more money for the origami left on hand. We will not waste everyone's contribution. We will let you know as soon as our next event is being decided. Keep spreading the words about project, hope someone/ some organization will allow us to host the next event soon. Thank you so much.

Another successful event

Today we had another successful event. After about 3.5 hours at the Mason Community Center, we had raised $657.12. Combine with last Sunday event at Kite Fest, our current total amount of donation is $3876.84. This money will be able to help so many people in Japan. Thank you everyone for your support. Thank you all the booth helpers today. And thank you so much for the generosity of Mason Community Center.

本日のメイソンコミュニティーセンターでのイベントも成功に終わり、
約3時間の間に$657.12の寄付金を集めることができました。
Kite Festでの寄付金を合わせると$3876.84になります。
寄付金は日本で厳しい生活を送る方々への大きな手助けになります。

National Geographic Channel- "Witness, Disaster in Japan"

Here is the latest show by National Geographic Channel. They have little preview videos on their website. The next airtime of their complete 1 hour show will be on April 20th, at 6p.m. This is a good reminder of why we are doing this fundraising project. As the media report starting to fade, but there are still so many people that needs our help. Thank you for your support on all the Japan relief events around town. Thank you.

Next fundraising event at Mason Community Center

This Saturday, April 16th, 11:30-2:30p.m

at the Mason Community Center

We will be setting up an origami donation booth at their Easter Eggstravaganza event. (Easter activities for kids of all ages) Easter event from 12-2p.m (our donation booth will be set up from 11:30 - 2:30p.m)

Non- members of Mason Community Center can still enjoy the following activities for FREE:
- receive an origami crane, gladly accepting donation for Japanese Red Cross Society
- meet Easter Bunny
- each family will receive an egg with a suprise inside (maybe candy or free guest pass)
- small inflatable toys for age 0-3 to play at location
- coloring contest
- pick a prize at the lollipop tree

Other members only (or non-members can also pay $20/family) activities include:
- easter egg hunt  (12:15p.m for ages 4-5)  (12:25p.m for ages 6-8)  (12:35p.m for ages 9-11)
- kids bunny hopping exercise activity
- climb the wall to get the eggs
- dance competition
- at the swimming pool (Leisure pool), kids can play with tons of toy ducks and also win a prize) (bring swimsuit)
- use any facilities in the buildinng for the whole day

Our job is not over yet

The Kite Fest was over two days ago, but our job is not over yet. Because of the rain cancellation last Saturday, though we had a great success on Sunday, we still have plenty of origami cranes left. We are currently trying very hard in reaching out to schools, communities, organizations, hoping to raise more money for the Japanese Red Cross with the leftover orgiami work. We will not waste anyone's hardwork.

日曜のイベントは成功に終わりましたが、雨のためキャンセルになった土曜の分

せっかくボランティアの方に折っていただいた折り紙が余っています。

皆様の被災地への思いを無駄にしないために現在スクール、コミュニティー、

団体など精力的に新しいイベント開催地を探しています。

One of our thought is to do something like "Adopt an Origami Crane Campaign", $1 donation for each crane. But we have yet found any large corporation, schools or venue for this. As  soon as we have more information about any future event, we will post here.
